Lebara in brief

Lebara is a UK SIM-only network built on Vodafone's radio network. It sells 30-day rolling plans from £5, paid upfront, with no contract and no credit check, and it bundles two things most networks charge extra for: international minutes to more than 50 countries on every plan, and roaming in the EU and India at no extra cost, up to 30GB of data.

The company was founded in 2001 by three entrepreneurs, and the name is built from the first letters of theirs — Leon, Baskaran and Ratheesan. Its first product was 1p-a-minute international calling at a time when calling abroad was expensive, and that origin still shows in every plan it sells. Today Lebara says more than 3 million UK customers use it, and it also trades in Germany, France, the Netherlands and Denmark. You can buy its SIMs online, in thousands of convenience shops, and in Tesco, Aldi and Sainsbury's.

UK customers contract with Lebara Mobile Limited, registered in England under company number 06184980, with its registered office at Broadwalk House, 5 Appold Street, London — as set out in Lebara's general terms and conditions.

Lebara's site lists the recognition it has collected: a Which? Recommended Mobile Provider four years running, Uswitch's Most Popular Mobile Network for the past three years, and Best MVNO at the Mobile News Awards 2026. On 23 September 2026 its site showed an Excellent Trustpilot rating across more than 83,000 reviews.

LEBARA10 is the standout. The 30GB plan is the one Lebara itself badges "Great Value", and at £2.49 a month it costs less than a quarter of its standard price for three months — a saving of £7.51 a month, or £22.53 over the three months. LEBARA5 cuts the 5GB plan by £3.51 a month. SAVE50 is the code for everything else, and on the bigger plans it is worth the most in pounds.

Lebara's voucher terms state that the 30GB and 5GB codes cover both the 30-day and the 12-month version of each plan, and are for new customers only.

Across the three discounted months, SAVE50 is worth £45 on Unlimited Plus, £37.50 on Unlimited Data, £30 on 100GB and £22.50 on 50GB.

The 12-month plans

Lebara also sells each plan on a 12-month term at 10% less per 30 days. Its 12-month plan terms list £4.50 for 5GB, £9 for 30GB, £13.50 for 50GB, £18 for 100GB, £22.50 for Unlimited Data and £27 for Unlimited Plus. The 12-month route suits anyone who already knows they are staying; the 30-day route keeps the freedom to leave at the end of any month.

Which plan, and which code

• A second SIM, a child's phone or light use. The 5GB plan with LEBARA5 is £1.49 a month for three months, then £5. It still carries 100 international minutes and EU and India roaming.
• Most people. The 30GB plan with LEBARA10 is the value pick: unlimited UK calls and texts and enough data for daily streaming and maps, at £2.49 for three months and £10 after.
• Heavier data. 50GB (£7.50 with SAVE50, then £15) adds 500 international minutes; 100GB (£10, then £20) makes international minutes unlimited to Lebara's included countries, plus 1,000 minutes to India.
• No data limit. Unlimited Data is £12.50 for three months with SAVE50, then £25. Unlimited Plus, at £15 then £30, adds unlimited international minutes on top.

What counts as qualifying

The discount is for new customers buying a SIM-only plan with a new SIM or eSIM at lebara.co.uk. The route that works, step by step:

• Open the deal link above and choose a plan on Lebara's SIM-only deals page.
• Tap Buy, choose A new SIM card, and answer the eSIM question (Lebara asks whether you are buying for an iPhone Air, which is eSIM-only).
• In the basket, tap Add Voucher Code, type the code and tap Apply. The order summary immediately shows a Discount line and the new total — you see the price before you enter any details.
• Enter your details, pay, and activate the SIM when it arrives.

Use the code that matches your plan: LEBARA10 is rejected on the 5GB plan and LEBARA5 on the 30GB plan, while SAVE50 fits any plan. One code goes on each order.

Network, 5G and coverage

Lebara runs on Vodafone's network and quotes up to 98% UK coverage. 5G is included on every plan at no extra charge; Lebara says its 5G is live in 129 UK cities and towns and growing, and that a phone outside a 5G area drops to 4G automatically. You need a 5G-capable, unlocked handset — on iPhone that means iPhone 12 or later. A phone bought outright is usually already unlocked; a contract phone can be unlocked free once the contract ends, Lebara notes.

The SIM is a 3-in-1 card that fits any phone size, and Lebara sells eSIM as well.

International calls and roaming

Every Lebara SIM-only plan includes international minutes to more than 50 countries, covering standard mobile and landline numbers. The allowance runs from 100 minutes on the 5GB, 30GB and Unlimited Data plans to 500 on 50GB and unlimited on 100GB and Unlimited Plus, which also add 1,000 minutes to India.

Roaming is where Lebara goes further than most UK networks. Your UK allowances work in the EU and India at no extra cost, up to 30GB of data. For anywhere else, Lebara sells roaming add-ons from £5 and lists every country's rates in its Roaming Rate Finder.

No contract, no credit check, no price rises

Three structural promises sit behind every Lebara plan:

• No contract. Plans roll every 30 days and can be changed or cancelled at any time.
• No credit check. You pay upfront, so Lebara does not check your credit history — a real advantage for anyone new to the UK or rebuilding their credit.
• No annual price rises. Lebara says it has not raised its plan prices since 2020. Out-of-bundle use on SIM-only plans is capped at zero, so there are no surprise bills.

Lebara's own survey of 57,370 customers who switched from one of the big networks in 2025 found an average saving of over £12 a month.

Lyca and VOXI figures come from HonestCodes' own verified entries. Refer and earn

Lebara also runs a refer-a-friend scheme, managed by its partner Aklamio. An existing customer shares a unique link; the friend gets 50% off their plan for the first three months, and the referrer earns a cash reward once the friend has stayed on the plan for 60 days and paid two monthly cycles. The reward scales with the plan: £10 for 5GB, £20 for 30GB, £30 for 50GB, £40 for 100GB and £50 for either unlimited plan, paid to a UK bank account or PayPal, with no cap on the number of referrals.

For a new customer, SAVE50 delivers the same half-price three months with no friend's link needed — and LEBARA10 and LEBARA5 go further on the 30GB and 5GB plans.

Keeping your number

Moving an existing number takes three steps, per Lebara's Keep Your Number page: text PAC to 65075 from your current number (the PAC lasts 30 days), activate your Lebara SIM or eSIM, which gives you a temporary number, and pick the date you want the number moved. Lebara's promotion terms add 5GB of extra data once a transferred number has made its first purchase of £5 or more, credited within 72 hours, and that bonus can be combined with other Lebara offers.

The SIM itself is free and posted by Royal Mail; orders placed before 3pm Monday to Friday usually arrive the next working day.
