Privacy policy

HonestCodes is an editorial website. It does not require reader accounts, shows no adverts, and does not sell or share data with third parties. We run our own privacy-first, cookieless analytics so we can see which codes are useful — measured in aggregate, never tied to your identity.

Cookies

HonestCodes sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracker. To count unique visitors and avoid counting the same person twice, your browser stores a single random identifier in local storage (not a cookie). It contains no personal information, is never shared, and you can clear it at any time from your browser settings.

What our analytics measures

For each visit we record aggregate counts only — total page views, how often a code is copied, and how often a referral link is clicked. Alongside those we keep coarse, non-identifying attributes to understand our audience: approximate country (derived from the network connection), device type, browser, and which website, search engine or AI assistant referred you. We do notstore your IP address or full browser user-agent — these are processed momentarily to derive the country/device bucket and then discarded. The result is a set of totals (for example “120 visits from the UK on mobile”), with no individual profile behind it.

External links

Outbound referral and brand links lead to the brand's own website. Once a reader follows such a link, the brand's privacy policy applies.

Server logs

The hosting provider may retain limited request logs for security and uptime purposes. These logs are not used for advertising or profiling.
