What Lyca Mobile is

Lyca Mobile is the world's largest mobile virtual network operator, by its own count serving more than 16 million customers across 18 countries. It launched in 2006 with one purpose — cheap calls home for people with family abroad — and that heritage still shapes every plan it sells in the UK: international minutes come as standard, and the bigger plans roam in India as well as the EU.

A virtual network operator does not build its own masts; it rents capacity on a host network. In Lyca's case that host is EE. BT Wholesale announced on 27 June 2023 that Lyca Mobile's entire UK customer base was moving to EE's 4G and 5G radio network, and Lyca now describes the result in its own words: four times faster speeds since July 2023, coverage across 99% of the UK population, and 68% 5G coverage. Every Lyca plan includes 5G at no extra charge.

Lyca's UK customers deal with Lyca Mobile UK Limited, the company named in its general terms and conditions. The wider Lyca Group — founded by entrepreneur Allirajah Subaskaran — also sponsors West Ham United, and the club and Lyca took Bronze for their community programme at the Sports Business Awards 2025.

Every one of those plans also carries 100 international minutes and EU roaming data. The biggest single saving is on UK Plan Unlimited — £12.50 off — while National Plus is the value sweet spot: 30GB with unlimited UK calls and texts for £5 in the first month.

Half price for months, not weeks: the pay monthly deals

Every one includes unlimited UK minutes and texts. Added up, the half-price months are worth £72 on Unlimited Plus, £54 on Unlimited, £48 on 120GB and £36 on 100GB. Lyca also commits to no mid-contract price increases — the monthly figure after the offer period is fixed for the rest of the term, which is not something every UK network promises.

Pay-as-you-go or pay monthly?

The two routes suit different people, and Lyca's own framing is a fair guide: pay-as-you-go for flexibility, pay monthly to fix your price.

Pay-as-you-go suits anyone who wants no commitment at all. There is no contract, no credit check and no direct debit. You buy a 30-day plan, use it, and renew it when it runs out — or top up and pay per minute, text and megabyte instead. It also works well as a second SIM for travel or a work phone.

Pay monthly on 24 months suits anyone who knows they will stay. The half-price opening months are longer, the unlimited plans are cheaper per month than their pay-as-you-go equivalents (£18 against £25 for unlimited data), and the price is locked.

Which Lyca plan to pick

The half-price first month makes the choice cheap to get wrong, but it is still worth landing on the right plan first time, because the standard price is what you pay from month two.

• Light use, or a second SIM. UK Plan Smart — 5GB, 1,000 UK minutes and texts, 100 international minutes — is £3.50 for the first 30 days and £5 after. It is the cheapest way to keep a number live, and it suits a backup phone, a child's first phone or a travel SIM.
• Everyday use. National Plus is the plan most people should start with: 30GB and unlimited UK calls and texts for £5 in the first month and £10 after, with 12GB of EU roaming data.
• Streaming and hotspotting. Super Extra (75GB, £7.50 then £15) and Mega Plus (120GB, £10 then £20) add India to the roaming zone as well as the EU. Mega Plus doubles National Plus's standard price for four times the data.
• No limits. UK Plan Unlimited is £12.50 for the first 30 days and £25 after, with 35GB of roaming data across the EU and India. Anyone certain they will stay should compare it with 24 Month Unlimited, which is £9 a month for six months and £18 after — £7 a month less for the same unlimited data.
• Calling family abroad. 24 Months Unlimited Plus is the only plan on Lyca's current line-up with unlimited international minutes, at £12 a month for six months and £24 after.

VOXI's figures come from HonestCodes' own verified VOXI entry. The dividing line is where your usage goes: Lyca is the stronger fit for anyone who calls abroad or travels in the EU and India, while VOXI suits heavy social-app users. Both are on HonestCodes with their current offers.

What counts as qualifying

The first-month discount is Lyca's new-customer pricing. It applies when you order a new SIM or eSIM plan online; Lyca's homepage points existing customers to a separate set of renewal and upgrade deals in their account. The qualifying step is simply ordering at the price on the card:

• Order through the link above, which opens the plan list with the current discounts showing.
• Choose the plan — the discount is attached to the plan card, not to a code.
• Check out. The first 30 days (pay-as-you-go) or the first three or six months (pay monthly) are charged at the discounted rate.
• Renew at the standard price after that. On pay-as-you-go you decide whether to renew each month; on pay monthly the standard price runs for the rest of the term.

International calls and roaming — where Lyca stands out

Most UK networks treat international calling as an add-on. Lyca builds it in. Every 30-day plan listed on 23 September 2026 carried 100 international minutes, and the 24 Months Unlimited Plus plan carries unlimited international minutes. Lyca's homepage highlights low rates to India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, the USA and Bulgaria.

Roaming is included too. On the 30-day plans the EU roaming data allowance is 5GB on Smart, 12GB on National Plus, Super Extra and Mega Plus, and 35GB on UK Plan Unlimited — and the three largest plans extend that roaming to India. On the 24-month plans, EU roaming data runs from 2.5GB on the 12GB plan to 35GB on Unlimited Plus.

eSIM, switching and support

eSIM is available on every plan. Lyca emails a QR code with activation instructions; scan it from your phone's settings and you are connected in minutes. Lyca lists compatibility with iPhone XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and many Samsung Galaxy models.

Keeping your number is straightforward. Ask your current network for a PAC, activate your Lyca SIM, and submit the code through Lyca's Keep My Number form. Lyca says the transfer usually takes one working day.

Topping up and renewing runs through the My Lyca app (iOS and Android), Lyca's online Quick Top-Up, or a top-up voucher. A pay-as-you-go SIM stays active as long as it is used for a chargeable action — a call, a text or a top-up — at least once in any 90-day window.

This is what most people type into Google, so here is the straight answer: Lyca Mobile's discount does not need a promo code. The saving is already priced onto the plan when you order — half price on the first 30 days of four pay-as-you-go plans, 30% off the fifth, and half-price months on the 24-month plans.
