Chattr at a glance

Chattr is a young, online-only UK mobile brand run by Kashcow Ltd, a company registered in England under number 08889583 with its registered address at 189 Chapel Street, Salford. It sells a short menu of SIM-only plans with no contract, no credit check and no price hikes, and it describes itself plainly as a new company dedicated to the best prices possible, with customer care answered by people rather than scripts.

Its signature product is Freedom One: one unlimited plan that gets cheaper the longer you keep it. Alongside it sit three data plans for lighter users, a Parents Hub aimed at families buying a child's first SIM, and a travel eSIM that Chattr has announced as coming soon, with 25% of its profits going to nature.

Chattr sells plans on the O2 and Vodafone networks. Its FAQ is candid about it: the contract is with Chattr, but customers can be on different networks, so the SIM card itself may say O2 or Vodafone. Chattr quotes 99% 4G and 5G UK coverage, and O2-network customers get O2 Priority — discounts at high-street brands, prize draws and priority tickets to events.

NewSept50 is Chattr's new-customer code for September: 50% off your first month on any plan, valid until 30 September 2026. Chattr's discount-code policy sets the rules — codes apply to the first month unless an offer says otherwise, the plan then returns to its standard monthly price, and one code goes on each order.

Every plan includes unlimited UK calls and texts. Freedom One is the one to take the code to: unlimited data for £7.50 in month one is less than most networks charge for a few gigabytes.

Freedom One: the plan that rewards staying

Most networks put prices up every April. Chattr turns that round. Freedom One costs £15 a month at the start, drops to a £14 loyalty price, then settles at a £13 VIP price from month 12 — and stays there.

Chattr's own pages differ on exactly when the loyalty price begins: its homepage shows £15 for months 1 to 5 and £14 from month 6, while its Parents Hub shows £15 for months 1 to 6 and £14 from month 7. Both agree on £13 from month 12. Either way, the price only moves down.

Unlimited on Freedom One means unlimited 5G data for everything — streaming, hotspotting, gaming — alongside unlimited UK calls and texts and European roaming. Chattr's terms reserve the right to manage speeds at times of unusually high network demand, as every network does.

The data plans

Not everyone needs unlimited. Chattr's three data plans each carry unlimited UK calls and texts:

• Chattr 6GB — £10 a month. Messaging, maps, music and light browsing; £5 for the first month with NewSept50.
• Chattr 25GB — £11 a month. Room for daily social media and some video; £5.50 for month one.
• Chattr 50GB — £12 a month. Heavy use short of unlimited; £6 for month one.

The step from 50GB at £12 to unlimited at £15 is only £3, which is why Freedom One is the plan Chattr leads with. Upgrades take effect immediately, with a pro-rata charge at the next bill; moving to a smaller plan needs 30 days' notice, per Chattr's terms. Bolt-ons can be added or removed from the SIMs and plans section of your account.

How ordering works

Chattr is online-only, and the order runs in three short steps:

• Choose your plan on the plans page and tap Get Your SIM.
• Create your account. Confirm you are 18 or over and select your phone's make and model — Chattr sends an eSIM by default, because most modern phones support it, and uses your model to check compatibility. Chattr notes on this screen that promo codes are added at the next step; that is where NewSept50 goes.
• Activate. Physical SIMs usually arrive in one to three days. Scan the QR code to reach Chattr's activation page, log in and enter the last four digits of the SIM serial number.

Payment is taken when you order, and your next payment is due one month plus three days later, giving you a grace period to receive and activate the SIM before the plan clock really starts.

What counts as qualifying

NewSept50 is for new customers ordering a Chattr SIM online on or before 30 September 2026. The first month's payment is halved; from month two, the standard price applies. A code cannot be combined with another promotion, cannot be transferred and has no cash value, and Chattr may refuse a code used incorrectly — all from Chattr's published discount-code policy. You need an unlocked phone; Chattr's FAQ notes that unlocking a phone from another network typically costs around £10 to £15 at a retailer.

Bill control, cancelling and switching

Three details in Chattr's terms matter for anyone wary of mobile bills:

• A £5 bill limit is set on every account by default, so out-of-plan charges cannot run away without you knowing. If you hit it, you add a bolt-on to carry on.
• Cancel by switching off auto-renew. Turn auto-renewal off in your account and the plan simply ends after the current month. There is no exit fee because there is no contract.
• A 14-day cooling-off window. Cancel within 14 days of activating the SIM and Chattr refunds the plan minus the days used.

Keeping your number works with a PAC from your current network — text PAC to 65075 — added when you activate. Leaving later is just as simple: email Chattr for a PAC, which it issues within one working day, and it moves numbers within one working day, Monday to Friday.

Roaming: 43 European destinations

Chattr's terms let you roam like at home in 43 destinations, using your UK data, calls and texts as normal. That covers every EU country, including the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Balearics and France's overseas departments, plus Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein. Chattr also includes a Zone 2 most networks leave out: Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man, the Faroe Islands, San Marino and Switzerland.

Roaming covers calls and texts to UK numbers, calls within the zone you are in, receiving calls, freephone and emergency numbers. A fair-use policy applies to data abroad, and calls from the UK to international numbers are charged separately.

A SIM for children and teenagers

Chattr has built a Parents Hub around one argument: unlimited data prevents bill shock. It publishes its own estimates of what children's favourite apps use — around 1GB an hour for TikTok, about 1.5GB an hour for YouTube, roughly 600MB an hour for gaming and around 3GB an hour for video streaming — which works out at 18GB to 90GB a month for an hour a day. It adds a teen data calculator, a child phone-bill calculator and guides to phones by age.

For parents, Freedom One's unlimited allowance, the £5 default bill limit and the absence of a contract make a predictable combination. Chattr requires the account holder to be 18 or over, so a parent orders the SIM for the child.

How much data do you actually need?

Picking between Chattr's four plans comes down to one number, and Chattr publishes its own rule-of-thumb figures for the apps that use the most. Taking an hour a day of each, every day for a month:

Messaging, email, maps and music use far less, which is why the 6GB plan suits anyone who mostly uses Wi-Fi at home and work. The table also shows why Chattr steers most people towards unlimited: one hour a day of video already outgrows the 25GB plan, and the gap between 50GB at £12 and unlimited at £15 is £3 a month — before Freedom One's loyalty price brings it down to £13.

Data used while hotspotting counts in the same way, so anyone sharing their phone's connection with a laptop should size up rather than down.

Chattr Travel

Chattr has announced Chattr Travel, a travel eSIM priced from £2.50, which it says will work in more than 200 countries with no roaming fees and a quick setup — and with 25% of its profits going to nature. On 23 September 2026 it was listed as coming soon, with a register-your-interest form on Chattr's site. For travel inside Europe, the main Chattr plans already roam like at home in 43 destinations.
