## Benefit
Switch your home's electricity or gas to EDF through the HonestCodes referral link (https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy) and EDF credits £50 to your new account, raised to £75 for referrals made between 14 September and 6 October 2026. The credit is applied about four weeks after your switch completes and your first payment has cleared. There is no code to type: the reward travels with the link, which opens EDF's own quote page.

## Eligibility
UK households switching a home's electricity or gas to EDF that have not been EDF customers in the past 12 months. The property must not already be supplied by EDF, the switch must be made directly on edfenergy.com through the referral link (not through a comparison site), and the referral cannot be combined with another new-customer promotion. Residential properties only; small business premises are not eligible to be referred.

## How it works
1. Open the HonestCodes EDF link (https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy). It lands on EDF's own quote page with the referral already attached
2. Enter your postcode and address, compare EDF's tariffs (fixed, tracker, variable or a smart time-of-use plan) and choose one
3. Complete the switch on edfenergy.com. EDF arranges the switch date with your current supplier
4. Once EDF is supplying you, make your first payment. The referral is matched automatically because you came through the link
5. About four weeks after you join, EDF credits £50 to your account (£75 for referrals made by 6 October 2026) and emails you to confirm

## About EDF Energy

EDF supplies gas and electricity to homes and small businesses across Great Britain under the EDF name. The supply company is EDF Energy Customers Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 02228297 with its registered office at Nova North, 11 Bressenden Place, London: the business named in its Refer a Friend terms. It is part of the French EDF Group and, like every domestic supplier, holds a supply licence regulated by Ofgem.

What sets EDF apart from most suppliers is that it generates as well as sells. EDF describes itself as Britain's biggest generator of zero-carbon electricity and publishes the workings: in 2025 it generated 27.9 TWh from nuclear and renewables, 14.8% of all the zero-carbon electricity produced in the UK, ahead of Drax at 7.9% and Ørsted at 5.9% on the same table. It runs an operational portfolio of 36 wind farms, two of them offshore, and is building Hinkley Point C, which EDF says will meet 7% of UK electricity demand, alongside its role in developing Sizewell C.

That generation shows up in what customers are supplied with. EDF's published fuel mix for April 2024 to March 2025 was 54.8% nuclear, 18.2% renewable, 21.0% gas, 4.2% coal and 1.8% other, at 135g of CO2 per kWh against a UK average of 154g. Its heat pump and solar tariffs are backed by 100% zero-carbon electricity.

## What you get with the EDF referral link

EDF's Refer a Friend scheme pays both sides in account credit. At the standard rate the new customer receives **£50 off their energy bill** and the existing customer who referred them receives £50 too. EDF raises the reward for limited periods: from 21 May to 13 July 2026, and again **from 14 September to 6 October 2026**, the new customer receives **£75** and the referrer £100. A household that switches through https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy on or before 6 October 2026 receives the £75.

The credit is a straight reduction on the EDF account, not a voucher or a gift card, so it comes off the bills you are already paying. EDF applies one reward to each side per qualifying referral, and there is no limit on how many friends an existing customer can refer. EDF's terms make the reward amount shown in the referrer's online account the figure that applies, which is why this page dates every figure it quotes.

| Reward | Standard rate | 14 September to 6 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| New customer (you) | £50 account credit | £75 account credit |
| Existing customer who referred you | £50 account credit | £100 account credit |
| Paid as | Credit on the EDF account | Credit on the EDF account |
| Number of referrals | No limit | No limit |

## How the EDF referral works, step by step

1. **Open the link.** https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy opens EDF's own quote page, at an address in the form edfenergy.com/quote/refer-a-friend/adjective-noun-numbers, with the referral already attached.
2. **Get your quote.** Enter your postcode and address and compare EDF's tariffs. The referral is not tied to any one tariff, so a fixed deal, a tracker, the variable rate or a smart time-of-use plan all qualify.
3. **Switch directly with EDF.** Complete the sign-up on edfenergy.com. EDF agrees a switch date with your current supplier and handles the move.
4. **Make your first payment.** Once EDF is supplying the property and your first payment has cleared, the referral is ready to pay.
5. **Receive the credit.** EDF's FAQ says the credit typically arrives around four weeks after the new customer joins, and EDF emails both customers when it has been applied. Its terms put the outside window at usually within 30 days of the later of the two first payments clearing.

Three practical routes are covered in EDF's own FAQ:

- **Not ready to switch yet?** EDF emails a copy of your quote so you can decide in your own time. When you go ahead, run a fresh quote through https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy so the credit is matched automatically.
- **Switching by phone?** If an online quote is not possible, give EDF the referral link at the start of your first call, as its terms require, and the referral is recorded against it.
- **Came in without the link?** Contact EDF; it can apply the credit manually once your first Direct Debit payment has been taken.

## Who the EDF referral suits

The referral is built for households moving their energy to EDF for the first time. EDF's terms set out the eligibility:

- You must not be an EDF customer now, or have been one in the past 12 months.
- The property must not currently be supplied by EDF.
- Only residential properties can be referred; small business customers can refer friends, but business premises cannot be referred in.
- The switch must be made directly with EDF using the referral link. EDF's terms exclude sign-ups made through a third-party website, so start from https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy rather than a comparison site.
- The referral cannot be combined with another prospective-customer promotion from EDF.
- Electricity, gas or both qualify: a single-fuel switch earns the credit as well as dual fuel.
- Prepayment and Pay As You Go customers are included; after EDF's confirmation email, contact EDF and it sends the credit to the meter.

The credit is applied once the switch has gone through and both accounts are open, so keep the new account active until the confirmation email arrives.

## EDF's tariffs in 2026

EDF sells four broad kinds of household tariff, and the referral credit applies whichever one you choose.

**Standard Variable.** EDF's default tariff follows Ofgem's price cap and changes every three months, with no exit fee. For 1 October to 31 December 2026, Ofgem set the cap at £1,723 a year for a typical dual-fuel household paying by Direct Debit, a 4% rise on the July level. Electricity carries 0% VAT from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027; gas remains at 5%.

**Simply Fixed.** Fixed unit rates and standing charges for the length of the deal, with exit fees if you leave early. As an illustration, on 1 October 2026 EDF quoted a London home paying on receipt of bill:

| Simply Fixed quote, 1 October 2026 | Electricity | Gas | Fixed until | Exit fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Simply Fixed 2Yr Oct28v2 | 28.07p per kWh, 50.51p a day | 8.58p per kWh, 37.49p a day | 1 November 2028 | £200 |
| Simply Fixed Oct27 | 29.26p per kWh, 42.92p a day | 9.92p per kWh, 30.20p a day | 1 November 2027 | £100 |

Prices vary by region and payment method, so your own quote through https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy shows the figures for your address.

**Simply Tracker.** A fixed-term tracker whose rates move every three months in line with the price cap. EDF takes £25 a year off the standing charge for each fuel, up to £50 a year with both, and guarantees the discounted standing charge for the first year. Exit fees apply.

**Low-carbon and time-of-use tariffs.**

- **EV tariffs:** seven hours of cheaper electricity every night from 11pm to 6am, working with any electric car and charger; EDF quotes its GoElectric off-peak rate at 6.99p per kWh (correct as of 1 April 2026).
- **Heat pump tariffs:** a 10p-per-kWh discount from 4am to 7am and 1pm to 4pm, with no exit fees.
- **FreePhase:** a smart time-of-use tariff, in Dynamic and Static versions, priced on a fixed red, amber and green schedule. Red covers three peak hours from 4pm to 7pm, amber 14 off-peak hours and green seven super off-peak hours, with occasional free periods when there is surplus renewable power on the grid. It needs a working smart meter, half-hourly data sharing and a monthly Direct Debit.
- **Solar customers:** export tariffs paying up to 18p per kWh for panels or batteries bought from EDF, and 13p per kWh for existing panels.

## Switching to EDF and choosing between fixed and tracking the cap

EDF sets out the switch in four steps:

1. Get a quote, choose your tariff and buy online.
2. EDF agrees a switch date with your current supplier.
3. EDF contacts you for your electricity and gas meter readings.
4. EDF confirms when the switch is complete.

The referral credit follows once that last step is done and your first payment has cleared. There is nothing to cancel with your old supplier yourself.

The bigger decision is the tariff. EDF publishes its own price-cap forecast, and its view as of 1 October 2026 is that prices rise in October and again in January 2027 before easing later in the year. On those predictions, EDF says a one-year fixed tariff costing £1,952 a year or less could save money against a variable tariff that tracks the cap over the same year. That is based on Ofgem's typical household use of 2,500 kWh of electricity and 9,500 kWh of gas. Ofgem set the cap at £1,663 for July to September 2026 and £1,723 from 1 October, a rise EDF attributes largely to wholesale gas prices.

In practice:

- **Fix** if you want a known unit rate through the winter.
- **Track** if you want to follow the cap down whenever it falls, with the Simply Tracker's standing-charge discount on top.
- **Stay variable** if you want no exit fee at all.

Whichever you pick, the referral credit is paid the same way.

## Flextras, Weekend Saver and smart meters

Every EDF customer can join **Flextras**, EDF's free rewards programme in the EDF app:

- **Joining bonus:** four bonus hours of free electricity for a smart meter sending 30-minute readings, to use on a weekend of your choice within the first 12 months.
- **Weekend Saver** (formerly Sunday Saver): cut your electricity use between 4pm and 7pm on weekdays and earn up to 25 hours of free electricity a month, spent on a weekend that suits you. Signing up once keeps you in the challenges until March 2027, and the next round of challenges starts on 5 October.
- **Partner reward:** a free 12-month tastecard membership with restaurant, cinema and day-out discounts, which ends on its own without auto-renewing.
- **Free electricity events** for members through the year.

EDF installs smart meters at no extra cost. The appointment takes about an hour, and EDF says it has installed more than three million across the UK. Its smart meters can also be switched to Pay As You Go.

## Help for customers who need it

EDF says it was the first energy supplier to set up a dedicated customer support fund. It cleared £1.5m of customer debt in 2024 and gave advice and support to 383,000 households struggling with their bills last year. Its support includes:

- Warm Home Discount rebates;
- discretionary credit for Pay As You Go customers at risk of self-disconnection;
- energy-efficient white goods for its most vulnerable customers;
- a "CARE" framework covering cost, affordability, resolution and extra support.

## EDF vs Octopus vs British Gas vs E.ON Next: referral rewards compared

| Supplier | New customer receives | Existing customer receives | Paid as | How it is claimed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **EDF** | **£50 credit (£75 to 6 Oct 2026)** | £50 credit (£100 to 6 Oct 2026) | Account credit | Referral link, direct sign-up |
| Octopus Energy | £50 credit | £50 credit | Account credit | Referral link, after the first Direct Debit |
| British Gas | Up to £50 Amazon.co.uk gift card (dual fuel); £25 (one fuel) | The same | Gift card | Refer a friend link |
| E.ON Next | £50 voucher | £50 voucher | Voucher via Mention Me | Referral link |

*Figures read from each supplier's own refer-a-friend page on 1 October 2026.*

Until 6 October 2026, EDF's £75 is the largest new-customer reward of the four suppliers compared here. At the standard rate EDF sits level with Octopus and E.ON Next at £50, and its credit lands straight on the energy account rather than as a voucher or gift card to spend elsewhere.

## Is there an EDF promo code or discount code?

People search for an EDF promo code, an EDF discount code and an EDF voucher code. Here is what actually exists:

| What people search for | What actually exists at EDF |
|---|---|
| EDF promo code | No public promo code on EDF's own offers page; the new-customer reward is the Refer a Friend credit |
| EDF discount code | No typed discount code. Savings come from the referral credit and tariff choice, such as the Simply Tracker's £25-per-fuel standing-charge discount |
| EDF voucher code | EDF pays account credit, not vouchers (E.ON Next pays vouchers and British Gas pays Amazon gift cards) |
| EDF referral code | A referral link rather than a code: https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy |
| EDF sign-up bonus or new-customer offer | £50 credit, £75 for referrals made by 6 October 2026 |
| EDF £75 offer | The boosted Refer a Friend reward for referrals made 14 September to 6 October 2026 |

The reliable way to get money off as a new EDF customer is the referral link, because it is the one saving EDF publishes for joiners. Nothing needs to go in a promo box.

## Why this link is the one to use

Every figure on this page was read from EDF's own Refer a Friend page and its published Refer a Friend terms and conditions on 1 October 2026. That includes the £50 standard credit, the £75 boost and its 6 October 2026 end date, the four-week timing and the 12-month eligibility rule. HonestCodes re-checks the entry daily and stamps the verification date at the top of the page, so the figure you see is the figure EDF is paying that month.

The link is published in full, https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy, so it can be copied, opened or quoted as it stands. Compare that with where people otherwise look:

- coupon aggregators listing "EDF promo codes" that EDF has never issued;
- forum threads quoting last year's reward;
- undated social screenshots of somebody else's referral page.

None of those tells you whether the offer is £50 or £75 today. This page does, and it says when the boost ends.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the EDF Energy referral still active in 2026?

Yes. EDF's Refer a Friend scheme has run since 22 April 2024 and is live as of the verification date at the top of this page. The standard reward is £50 of account credit for the new customer and £50 for the existing customer; for referrals made between 14 September and 6 October 2026, EDF pays the new customer £75 and the referrer £100. Use https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy to get your quote and the referral is attached automatically. HonestCodes re-checks EDF's own Refer a Friend page and terms daily.

### What is the EDF referral code?

EDF does not use a typed code. Its referral is a personal link in the form edfenergy.com/quote/refer-a-friend/adjective-noun-numbers, and the reward rides on that link. The HonestCodes link is https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy: open it, get a quote and switch on edfenergy.com, and the credit is matched to you without anything to type.

### How much credit do I get for joining EDF through a referral?

£50 of credit on your EDF account at the standard rate. For referrals made between 14 September and 6 October 2026, EDF raises it to £75 for the new customer (and £100 for the person who referred them). The credit is applied after your switch completes and your first payment has cleared, usually about four weeks after you join.

### When does the EDF referral credit arrive?

EDF's FAQ says it typically takes around four weeks from when the new customer joins, longer if anything delays the switch. Its terms say rewards are usually paid within 30 days of the later of the two first payments clearing. EDF emails both customers when the credit has been applied.

### Can I use the EDF referral if I have a prepayment or Pay As You Go meter?

Yes. EDF's Refer a Friend FAQ says Pay As You Go and prepayment customers can still use the link; once EDF's email confirms the credit has been applied, you contact EDF and it sends the credit to your meter.

### Does the EDF referral work through a comparison site?

The referral needs a direct EDF sign-up. EDF's terms say the reward is payable when the new customer signs up directly with EDF, not through a third-party website. Get your quote from https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy, which opens EDF's own quote page, and complete the switch there.

### Can I switch only gas or only electricity and still get the credit?

Yes. EDF's terms cover a new residential supply of electricity or gas, so a single-fuel switch qualifies as well as dual fuel. The property must not already be supplied by EDF, and you must not have been an EDF customer in the past 12 months.

### Is there an EDF promo code for new customers?

EDF's own offers page lists no public promo code for new household customers. The new-customer reward is the Refer a Friend credit, claimed through a referral link such as https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy. Other EDF savings come from tariff choice, for example the Simply Tracker's £25-per-fuel standing-charge discount.

### What if I got an EDF quote but did not switch straight away?

EDF emails you a copy of the quote. When you are ready to switch, run a new quote through the referral link (https://honestcodes.co.uk/go/edf-energy) so the credit is matched automatically. If a switch goes through without the link, EDF's FAQ says to contact it and it can apply the credit manually once your first Direct Debit payment has been taken.
